with 5 kids in sports....

..... my blog could be a sports blog 100% of the time...I try to hold back, but occasionally I can't stop myself from sports blogging....

First off, Melissa's Basketball team went 3-4 for the season...we lost every game once the full court press was allowed half way through the season. The coaches worked hard, the girls worked hard on press breaking and boxing out to prepare for the single elimination tournament. They won the first game in a nail biter to get into the semi final game. They won the semi final game. On Saturday they will be playing their championship game against a team that has gone undefeated in the season...Melissa's team is definately the underdog. I have watched a trememdous amount of improvement over the past few practices and games, and am really excited to see what happens with them on saturday.

Over Presidents day weekend Greg and David had a hockey tournament. The whole club stays in the same hotel, so when they are not on the ice, they are in the hotel playing mini-sticks.Hockey, Hockey, Hockey.

Shawn and Alex were able to have a cousins weekend, so Dale, Melissa and I took the little boys to the tournament.

Greg's team is still struggling, but there is never a dull moment when Greg is your kid. He is either amazing, or in space. it's always exciting to see which Greg shows up for each game. He had a ho hum weekend. He played goal in one of the three games, and skated out in the other two. I think he was in the penalty box 3 times, which he seems to enjoy. He also had quite a bit of fun in the hotel pool and playing mini sticks.

Dale brought him to practice last night where he "showed up". Dale said he looked amazing scrimmaging with his team. That's Greg, either super focused and loving it, or somewhat aloof. You just never know.

David tends to be the opposite. He never loses concentration for hockey. So much so, that he couldn't sleep one night over the weekend because he was thinking of his next game. He came in and slept with us to calm his nerves.

He had a terrific weekend and played amazing. His team has had a terrific year and this weekend was no different. They made it to the championship game in this tournament, but the other team edged them out 3-2 in the final game. (David's teammates inadvertently put two of the three goals in for the other team, which didn't help the situation) 2nd isn't bad though, these were quality teams to go up against.
