October!

October is such a beautiful month, and it is flying by!! This weekend we went camping in Shenandoah National park...It is one of the most beautiful places to experience the fall colors! Unfortunately for my blog readers, I am incapable of capturing that beauty through my photography, so I will share my pictures, but I have to give you a disclaimer, My pictures are 1000x less brilliant than being there in person!

Shawn getting close to the wildlife at the campground..(are deer still considered wildlife??) On this trip the wildlife were out in full force before bedding down for the winter...we saw wild turkey's and on our way out we actually got to see a family of black bears hanging out in the woods! We were about 100- 150 feet from them, it was amazing to see them in the wild!

Picture from an over look

There were wild flowers all over, here is a brilliant red wildflower up close....

A view of some hot guy !!

We hiked one afternoon to a waterfall...The Appalachian trail runs the entire length of Skyline drive..we hiked small sections of the trail..Anyone who is lucky enough to hike the trail has a front row seat to the most amazing sights that our country has to offer!!

Dale, his dad, and his "little" brothers standing on a wall..(only about 100 foot drop directly behind them!!)

Me trying to get a picture of the scenery without wrecking! I would say that the biggest challenge of driving skyline drive is keeping your eyes on the road!! But everyone understands why you are driving so poorly, so it's ok!

Greg at enjoying one of the overlooks

On the Appalachian trail headed to the waterfall...a cold front came in just in time for our camping trip! It is about 20 degrees warmer today here at home

Another great view!

and another!

Us with Grandma and Grandpa Kelley at an overlook

The kids taking a rest with their cousins during a hike...they did a great job!!
!

I thought I would really miss the mountains, but then I came home and remembered the beauty we have right here in our back yard! our "wildlife"...

This is our second Autum in our house, and I am amazed at the brilliant colors our trees have! (again, my photography skills do not do the Autum colors justice!)

The view out the front door! (the pine tree is there to remind us of Christmas right around the corner!)

Yes, deer are considered wildlife. You might not think so because you practically live in the wild!

And, please, no more pictures while driving on mountain roads. We'd like to keep you around for a while.

How fun that you all went camping together. Wish we could have been there...
