For some reason I think the kids are adorable when they do "big people" jobs. Shawn and Alex take the trash cans out to the street. The cans are 3 times as big as they are and they have to schlep them 1/10th of a mile up the driveway and it is so cute to see them do it! Last week Dale started turning some of the mowing over to Shawn. Alex chops wood with Dale using a real ax and both boys are learning how to care for and maintain the pool...I don't know why I get so much joy from watching them do all these things, but I really do. On one hand, they look so little and like babies trying to do what the big people do, and on the other hand they are old enough to do these things and are turning into young men. I have always gotten so much joy from watching my toddlers do and say funny things that I wondered what would be cool about a preteen, and I have to admit, I never knew I would get so much joy from watching my little boys grow into little men.

oh my goodnesss....buy those poor kids a riding lawn mower! they don't do the whole thing w/that tiny mower do they?
the reason why you enjoy watching them do it is cuz you don't have to do a thing! LOL
Exactly right! I can sit a sip my juice while they slave away! Dale does almost the whole yard on the riding mower, the boys just do the pool area and that little bit by the deck...so it takes no time at all...
