The other morning I was half asleep. I felt something lightly touching my wrist. I lulled back into a deep sleep. When I woke up I noticed a pink and yellow friendship bracelet on my wrist...I was pretty sure it was David. I asked, and indeed it was David.
I mentioned it to Dale...He made the guess that David picked yellow because it's my favorite color, and pink because it is a pretty girl color. When thanked David for my sweet gift, I asked what made him choose yellow and pink..he smiled at me and said "Yellow is your favorite color, and pink is a good girl color for you"..How sweet is it that my son made me a bracelet and tied it on my wrist while I was asleep?...and how sweet is it that my husband knows the mind of his son that well? ...What a blessing these boys are!
This morning I encouraged Shawn not to get up for early morning seminary. He had a very rough week. he has been so exhausted that I just wanted him to get a few hours more sleep. He is on time every morning at 6:00 am and he hasn't missed a day yet. Every child in his class misses at least once, maybe 2 times a week. So I really encouraged him to just go ahead and sleep in.
I got a text from one of the moms that not ONE kid went to seminary this morning. I immediately thought of the poor teacher who prepares every morning and is waiting bright and early for the kids to arrive. At times Shawn has been the only kid there for the first 20 minutes, but never the only kid. I mentioned to Shawn that not ONE kid went this morning. He immediately wanted to tell his teacher sorry. He called her and appologized for not being there. She said, "it's ok Shawn, you deserved a break". I am so proud of him to be the mother of such a sweet boy. Who has ever appreciated the efforts of their early morning seminary teacher?!?
Last sweet moment: (*names have been changed to protect the not so innocent)
I encourage my kids not to pick their noses and especially if they do pick them, not to eat it! One child has rebelled. He loves to see me squirm and has learned to shove two fingers up his nose when I ask him to stop "touching" his nose. And then he will shout, "hey, look what I found!" as he shoves his finger in his mouth. Sometimes he is faking me, sometimes not. In the car one night, I was having an especially sweet moment with Johnny*. We had been discussing so many things. My heart was tender. He very sweetly finished one conversation with "mom, you are such a lucky mom." I said, "yes I am. I know why I am lucky, but what makes you think I am a lucky mom?" ...Johnny proceeds to explain, "You are lucky because I lost a tooth. Now when I try to eat my boogers it falls off my finger and I can't eat it."
sweet moments.....

Well, I might classify number 3 as gross, but the other two are sweet. Especially the first! Wow, you are a lucky mom.
I want to see you when we get to MD.
LOL Denise! I was thinking the exact same thing :) I love the moments when the world is perfect.
I think that many of us who know your family could already guess who Johnny is. :P
Sweet, sweet, really disgusting (I decided to use a synonym of "gross" so I didn't use Denise's exact language. And yes, Wendy, we have strong a suspicion about the identity of "Johnny." We'll use that information for blackmail purposes in the future.
Aw... the first two were very, very sweet... the last one more disgusting, but hey, if you can find sweetness in it, then you are a GREAT mom.
