We spent several days shuttling Alex back and forth to doctors after a previously assumed finger jam was actually a broken bone that required surgery. Since his bones have been pinned back together I have spent a great deal of time chasing him off the trampoline, or out of the kickball game and believe it or not even off of his rollerblades! Doctors orders of 'no running around for a week so the bones have some time to set in place' have been recited so many times that I just say "Allllllllllleee...' and he hangs his head and walks right to the family room to play the Wii...thats right, he has been forced to play video games all week and he hates it! He is going nuts and wants to run around again....
We ended the week by celebrating Shawn's birthday...Family and friends made for quite a party! The boys played basketball, capture the flag and ate! (and ate and ate!) Shawn has been eating and growing nonstop since his last birthday. Check out the picture of us Spring Break 2009...Shawn is several inches shorter than I am...
Check out Shawn now...! 5-6 inches taller than I am! I am really glad the weather is warmer and I don't have to try and keep him in pants that fit anymore...He sure is a cutie!
Speaking of Shawn, While I was at the mall the other day hanging some artwork from the Elementary School, a friend and I were admiring art work from Shawn's middle school...especially 4 sports themed paintings...two of a football player, one of a snowboarder and one of a hockey player. I immediately turned and commented to my friend how much David would love the painting of the Hockey Player and I wish I could talk the young artist into selling it to me...I glanced at the Artist's name only to notice that it was Shawn! I was so excited! He later told me that the painting was of David the night that he played hockey during an intermission at the Capital's game. I didn't snap a picture of it that day, but I will post it when I get a picture...

So is he as tall as Dale yet? Fun pictures, he really has grown like a weed.
The great thing about Shawn is that his character is growing in stature just like his body. He's such a great kid. As for Alex and his forced inactivity--good luck! He must have quite a pain threshold to be walking around with a broken hand for several days.
Oh, my. I can't even imagine what it will be like to have kids taller than myself! You seem FAR too young for that.
That is some CRAZY growth!!!
All that in one year... each time I have seen Shawn lately his voice is lower and he is an inch or two taller. Time to start buying even more food.
I don't know what it is about boys that make them grow so fast! That is amazing. I can't imagine having kids taller than me.
uh oh, does this mean he can go to dances now? Look out girls! He is so cute and tall. Umm... how old were you when you met Sunny Pumpkin? You may be meeting his future wife
soon. (Shawn's, not Dale's! ;)
Oh my! He has gotten tall!
