If I were a Political Cartoonist....

I would make sure to draw President Obama playing a favorite childhood game with special interest groups and big corporations: "Eeny meeny miney mo, catch a tiger by the toe, you will get some of thier DOUGH!" as small businesses and the middle class look on.....

Some snipets from his plan that will drastically change things for me personally...

take away mortgage write offs
no more write offs for charitable contributions
no more Bush tax cuts

I am sure there is more, but I couldn't stomach it...

really? we are going to fix the economy by hurting charitable donations? really? we are going to help the housing market by not allowing mortgage write offs? really? we are going to put money back in everyones pocket by taking it? really? we are going to save jobs by not requiring companies to be reasonable with their expenses and restructure? really? We are going to create jobs by making sure small business stays small? really, ok...we will see where we are in a year...maybe we will actually accept the fact that we ARE in a depression and taking money from people in a depression is a BAD idea!

I haven't read the package, so now you've peaked my interest. Are the things you've listed for everyone or only for people who make over a certain amount? (If you do make over that amount, mad props to you guys!)

Hey D, I appreciate the compliment, but no, that is not what I have going into my bank account!

I do not know if it's for people making over a certain amount...I think its a bad idea if you want to stimulate the housing market...if you can't take those write offs, whats the point of buying?? I browsed around the congressional budget office blogs checking into stuff...it is all happening so fast that its tough to know what stage the proposals are in when you read them...fun stuff out there...in my opinion it is going way to fast for appropriate oversight...

There would be a cap on charitable donations, mortage interest deductions, etc., for those making over $250,000. No one has proposed reducing the deductions for those making less than $250,000. Remember this is a work in progress. Many proposals will be deleted, improved, remain the same as this moves forward. I have some major concerns with the health care proposals - hospitals and physicians are already losing money due to reductions in Medicare benefits. How are we supposed to take care of the uninsured if they take more money away from the hospitals. Stay tuned....

I'll have to look at their blogs. I looked at online newspapers and didn't see any of that stuff that would effect someone making less than 250k and that is what O said in his speech this week. I think you may have some of the issues mixed up. I'm no expert, though. I think the plan is for the middle class and small businesses to benefit from all of this...eventually.

Wait a minute, I thought you liked this guy? I've always had my concerns as small business owners. I have a funny comic a friend sent me today, I'll post it on my blog.

I think we all agree on what needs to happen, and I do not doubt his intentions in trying to accomplish the things he is talking about, I liked his speeches, but I am not happy with the approach and the policies he is coming up with. These policies say that he believes governement is better stewards and will make these things happen. It is a philosphy I do not agree with. Its Skousen's 5000 year leap in the first 100 days of his term! (I know, a slight exaggeration, but headed that direction)

I don't care if it's for people making less than 250 or more than 250...Bad bad bad idea to take away charitable donations...what he is thinking is that with that tax money they(the governement) will accomplish more than the charities! this country and the people in it live by the goodwill we show to each other...charities are vitally important and that policy is a step in the wrong direction...as far as small business, he believes the governement can make small businesses innovative, his policies tell me that...guess what makes small businesses innovate? our customers and the demand or lack of demand for what we are offering, NOT the government...big businesses are no longer having to innovate, they run to governement for help when they are failing, not good for capitalism, not good at all. Next they will be giving handouts for small businesses, not good for capitalism, not good at all...the right intentions, but a very short sighted way to look at things...I truely believe that if we would ride this out, we would be a lot better off...the government has to bail out the banking industry, because they insured everyone's money, and they don't want another 1929...the stock market doesn't like Obama, I am really concerned that he is artificially inducing a bigger depression than would have occured...right now EVERYONE has lost lots and lots of money....people are counting themselves lucky if they have a job...but the only secure jobs are government and healthcare...nobody else is comfortable...

I could go on, sorry for the longwinded sppech!
