We went to the White House Easter Egg roll this year. Part of the fun is actually camping out to get the tickets. Shawn, Alex and I camped out this year with my brother and nieces and a bunch of their friends from church, and thanks to my brother going early we were near the front of the line. It was really cold, but my brother brought a tent and so everyone slept in that. Except me, I slept on two chairs in my sleeping bag. I really enjoyed the sounds of the city, and the whole experience was somewhat surreal. Sleeping outside the White House in downtown D.C.! I could see the Washington Monument and hear all the sounds of the city. I really enjoyed it. My mother in law joined the kid's and I for the Egg Roll. It was extra crowded this year because The Jonas Brothers were there. It was also a beautiful day, so a lot of people showed up. We had a good time. One thing I thought was neat, but it was lost on my kids, is that they had various Cabinet members reading stories to the kids. To see a man who sits in the Oval office and makes very important decisions being very animated while reading to the kids was pretty cool. They didn't have a clue who he was, and he had to work just as hard to keep their attention as everyone else! It was a really neat experience.
